Reissues?

Has this fad died down? Don't seem to be making many lately.

With reasonably priced updates in the Legends, Combiner Wars and Power of the Primes line, as well as Masterpiece figures (usually) priced to move, reissues of 30 year old toys don't have the same appeal they once did.

By way of comparison, I bought the reissue of Devastator a little over 5 years ago for something like $120. Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors Devastator is superior in every conceivable way, and set me back almost the exact same amount. 15 years ago, I paid $120 for a reissue of God Ginrai. In 2016/2017, the engineering masterpiece that was Legends God Ginrai cost the the *exact* same amount.

Add to that how prices for G1 figures have pretty well stabilized (and, in many cases, dropped) and firing up the molds (or re-engineering new ones) for such a small customer base isn't cost effective compared to making new, updated figures that can see a more wide release.

Walmart recently released reissues of: Devastator, Hotrod, Starscream, Bumblebee, and 3 other minibots. Picked up a Devastator set and the minibots. Pretty cool as the boxes and cards are all G1 too. Very nice to have a mint Devastator with all the accessories.

Would be more interested if they stopped pitching them as toys and released unmodified versions, but that's almost certainly not economically viable -- plus in most cases bootleggers (apparently with access to original moulds) have beaten them to it.
