Where famous, and infamous, threads are enshrined for all eternity. (Although really it's just an excuse to laugh at trolls a few months down the road. Ha!)

i don't agree - the eggs (egg!) were clearly in charge, to remove them would have made th Quints seems a bit odd.

They were hardly there anyway. What I meant was that if they hadn't ever been made up, any alien race would have worked just as well in that story.

I liked them in Space Pirates.

Actually, that 'servants of Unicron' thing would be interesting. And posssible, too. We saw that Uni doesn't destroy all the time, he can also create (Galvy and the gang, Hook-Line-Sinker).

Would be interesting ifthe Quints made a "deal with the devil" - Uni spares their planet, inreturn they become his contingency plan, destroy the TFs if UNi fails.

Alpha Q was also great (in the comics). Wonder if we'll ever learn what he and Avalon were up to.

That's about the only way I think I'd find them interesting.
Was the only motivation for the Quints in Space Pirates just killing all the TFs off so they could steal their planet(s) and resources? If so, then yeah, maybe any old alien race coulda fill their....shoes.

That would've worked out famously for them, wouldn't it? Until Cyclonus got trashed and time ripped up their gaff. Unicron would've still been indirectly responsilbe for their planet's destruction by creating Cyc.

No, their planet was about to be destroyed and Cybertron was the only planet they could survive on for some reason.

Might as well use an established foe though.

I liked hook line and sinker - I liked the way they were hardcore, and kicked Galvy about untill Galvy lost his rag with them and killed them for being muppets.

Ah, Rimmer. Now I get it.
Unicron must have got the idea from Earth - how many other planets have hooks, lines and sinkers? Grouped together? As a crappy character naming pun? Those guys should have been called 'Scraping', 'Bottom' and 'Barrel'.

Hook, Line and Sinker were criminal from some wolrd he ate, right? Maybe they visited Earth and took their names from there.

Not when you consider the fact that Unicron named them, there and then.

Their names are inconsequential. Know simply that they are scum.

With dumb names.
Maybe Uni (not the annoying creature in Dungeons and Dragons) had eaten Earth already, in some alternate dimension. Or perhaps the universe is the same everytime it starts anew, and Earth is destined to be created again and again, so he's eaten it many times.
That way he'd know of hooks, lines, and sinkers. If only by reading the menu.

Or maybe we're reading too much into this, and we fail to understand that the story and characters were written by a human who just used human names and ideas in his writing.

So getting back to the Quints, what was your favorite face? Least favorite?

Unimaginative spoilsport. :p
I kinda like the Death face, but there were only really two memorable ones and I can't remember the name of the other one. It wasn't the Fat face though.
What WERE the other faces called?
Did Alpha-Q's faces have names (including 'Annoying Whiney Face')? Do we really count him as a 'true' Quintesson? Yeah, I know that should be in the Energon topics, but as we're here...

Hmm... I could have swore that they also had more serious names. Death, Judge, Inquisitor etc.
Or was it Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc, Grumpy, Dickhead, er... Nixon, Rudolph?

It's got their 'names' in the Ultimate Guide, but as its a bit big and I don't tend to carry it with me to work, I couldn't for the life of me tell you what they are right now.

Has anyone got the Ladybird TF:TM adaptation? I want to remember what they called the tentacle-alien in the cast of characters bit. Began with P.

Originally, the Quint faces were meant to represent differant emotions that the Quint was expressing at the time. This is what is says in the script anyways.

I can't remember which face stood for which emotion though.
