Dreamwave are no more

Where famous, and infamous, threads are enshrined for all eternity. (Although really it's just an excuse to laugh at trolls a few months down the road. Ha!)

Dreamwave are no more

Post by BB Shockwave » Tue Jan 04, 2005 4:15 pm

Yes, folks, let me be the bearer of grim(lock) news.

DW is finished, closing, kaputt, finito. It's an ex-company. It's putting up the daisies.

http://www.seibertron.com/news/view.php?id=4495

Naturally (what, did you expect Pat Lee to say they blew it? ) they blaim things like the weak US dollar. Oh (NG)boy.

And marsmellow friends, do not despair! Pat Lee will be back with his puffy bots and exactly-the-same-as-the-next-guy humans! Woot!
The specific details for closure have not yet been released but Lee assures both fans and clients alike that “although this is the end of Dreamwave as a comics publisher, I will still be penciling a number of new exciting projects in conjunction with other studios in the upcoming years.”
All I have to say, It's truly our darkest hour unless some other company continues Energon, TWW, or starts Beast Wars. Let's bow our heads in shame while the Constructicons play the dead-march on trumpets (even if they don't have mouths).

:dead:

How many issues did TMNT series have? Seven or something? And that makes it successful?

Shame about Energon if the rest of the series won't ever see the light of the day in one form or another.

I'm sure this'll come as a great relief to all of the creators who are currently out of pocket.. they can still buy faux-manga wankery by one of the guys who screwed them over...

But Pat is such a great guy, of course they'll buy his stuff!
Like....like....X-4 (the retitled X-Men/Fantastic Four) series! That almost every comic site is decrying as absolute crap....ooops.

Buddy, the man you're calling noob was once the top poster at the Dreamwave board... Before it crashed, that is. And yup, give credit to you, you spotted the news first. I just immediatly posted a new topic as I didn't see any topic titled "bing-bang, DW's dead".Or something alike.

Trust me, it pains me that they are dead, but in the previous few months, I was fed up with DWs overall attitude. Especially Pat Lee's.

Instead of realising their dwindling sale numbers were due to bad writers, abysmal artist (you know the name) and their nasty habit of making at least 4 multiple covers for titles that even they knew sucked... No, Pat instead blames the dollar. He could blame the weather too...

I'm a Transfan for life, I'm not going to get upset by this news. TFs will go on.

Its a bit like supporting the England football team. Continues to underform, goes down the pan, then you wait a few years till it inevitably comes back again.

Hah. Try supporting Saints as well... that's a nightmare.

Except that Southampton have actually had more success in the past 40 years than England...

"ANOTHER FINE MESS" by 'Dead Head' (a.k.a. P.W.)
===============================

Dreamwave had their fifteen minutes in this comics trade,
Until the fans stopped buying and creators left unpaid,

Their messageboard was funny if you like to talk to trolls,
And idiot illiterates who post "one option" polls,

And multiple-accounters who were more than meets the eyes,
The forum being hacked was a blessing in disguise!,

Calls were heard for Pat Lee to be hung upon the gallows,
For his puffed up ego and his robots like marshmallows,

Many comics were delayed while some others got the can,
Pat: a cigarette packet is no place to write a plan!,

But he needed those smokies for cool photos of himself,
Which he autographed and kissed and then put upon his shelf,

His tongue stuck out in all those prints is really quite bizarre,
Well, at least one person seems to think he's still a superstar,

McDonough's team put long hours in - of them he often praised,
"That Brad Mick really is a gem - he's better than James Raiz!"

To lose our robot comics may have seemed, to some, traumatic,
But Brad was not The Bard and sidekick Patyk was erratic,

Fans starved for many years, but so happy for a while,
To gobble Maccy's gibberish and suck up Sacci's bile,

Luckily, some realized this was like a 'Mindwipe' trap,
They woke and ran away for they saw that it was crap,

Some good things do exist though, after 'Prime and Megs' are gone,
Furman's still a favorite; Figueroa's still the Don,

Joe Ng was getting better and Guido had the spark,
Alas, the colors were murky and the comics looked too dark,

Lo! Roger Lee stepped forth and he hath booked a new domain,
To engineer an escape from all the Dreamwave pain,

"To sell my sports car to pay Brad Mick is what I can't abide!",
"And that pesky Richard Johnson is a thorn stuck in my side!",

Hasbro watched this from afar and saw that it was poo,
"Should we call on Marvel or contact Devil's Due?",

Cliffhangers, canon, 'Scourge', and ambiguity,
"LOL!!! u can use my fanfic as nu continuity!",

The War Within was going well, Beast Wars was on the verge,
But money rumors turned out to be true it did finally emerge,

'Ultra Magnus' might not get to save 'Optimus' and friends,
Don't be sad - the future's bright - we know "It Never Ends!"

Yeah, I could have sworn there was some similarity there... at least Bill Gates doesn't make puffy windows. ;)

Dreamwave infused a stagnant comic book market with art and design that effortlessly combined the then dominant "American" art style with the newly emerging Japanese "Manga" art style. Since then, the company had grown to become one of the comic book industry's premiere publishers

its fitting that DW bow out with a BS riddled press release.

I feel sorry for teh creatos that got cauht up in the Lee brothers ineptness, but other than that i can't muster the energy to care. Transformers will endure without these jokers and if anythig in the long run i suspect this will turn out to be for the best from a fan perspective.
newb.
don't be a wanker.

yes, i can now come out of hiding and explain that infact it t'was I how orchastrated the downfall of the mightly and powerful Dreamwave, these past few months during my absense I have actually eliminated and replaced Pat Lee and flushed DW down the bog... and now that my work there is done I have been able to return to these hallowed forums.
Oh and by the way, whilst i was away, I rigged a few elections, blew a few things up, stole some other stuff and generally did neferious things around the world...
Yes, you see, *pulls off rubber mask*... I am infact shockwave and everything has proceeded according to _my_ plan...

mwahahahahahahaa...

now if only i could remove this Pat Lee mask... I'm starting to find myself getting stuck in front of mirrors more and more...
