Private Messaging

Post by Legion » Tue Feb 21, 2006 4:11 pm

ok, i think i'm probably being exceedingly stupid here...

but why is it, that on the rare occaisions i try using private messaging, the message i've trying to send sits in my outbox after i've hit "send" rather then sending and going to my "sent items"?

does it stay in the "outbox" until the receipient logs in and collects it or something?

All of them always sooner or later end up in Sentbox, so I'm pretty sure that's how it works, yes.

Either,

The message sits in your outbox until the recipent logs in, at which time it moves to your sentbox and also their inbox, where they get notified of new messages,

or,

The message sits in your outbox and also their inbox until the recipient reads the message, at which time it moves from your outbox to your sentbox.

I'm guessing the former is what happens with phpBB2, as the latter is more of an unnecessary read receipt system.

And my excuse for supposing how it works is that I remember using it.

Once. ;)
