Post by Predabot » Sun May 22, 2005 12:41 pm

yeah, why is that? There's nothing there. You removed the Star Wars topic. And Who da Pimp belonged there too.

Well there was only one 'relic' in it anyway... all the great performances seem to have been lost when we switched from UBB :(

Sorry, wrong pointlessly cryptic statement.

What I meant to say was:

The answer points to itself.

Aha! ^_^

...maybe we should write a little help file for you, and append it to your posts? ;) 'Chapter 1: Understanding Your Rebis'... ;)

Maybe we should.

Don't forget the chapter on how Rebis' mind is usually so overactive in thought that what he communicates is often a jumbled mess to the point of being confused with gibberish, and that therefore his lot should not be confused with that of an idiot, but should serve as a reminder to all that he is just one of many examples of how ineffective evolution can be in terms of upgrading all the relevant components coherently.

In this case, the emergent/resultant bottleneck between his thinking and his communicating centres.

Technology One, Evolution Nil!

Maybe you should speak in databursts, like How2 and Bad Influence used to do?

That way we can record you, then play you back using the pause button and take our time understanding what you've got to say ;)

Databursts? Pah! I'd sooner work in blipverts!

Nah, just record everything I say into a single database, and entitle it "Don't Panic" :D

Only 3rd? We coud take it to...

BOYSCOD NORMAL FORM!!! {thunderclap}

if i could remember how... :(

Yeah, but once you go beyond 3rd normal form, you're getting a bit software-specific, aren't you?

Or am I thinking from a pre-SQL perspective?

Well Boyscodd is desgined to get around very specific examples you can feed a 3NF database which will result in data duplication. unfortunately its so horrifically complicated ive forgotten all about it :( dont think its software dependant now tho... might be.

Interesting.

I don't appear to be able to discover any info on boyscod/boyscodd on the web. :eyebrow:

I think its two words, Boyys Codd or Boys Codd. The chap who invented it was a Dr. Codd i think.

Databases...

How utterly dull. And Access is the worst one, most dreadfull, especially when you code in it...you fall asleep. It's as simple as that.

Oh ok. Sorry Rebis, its the end of the discussion from the look of it.

And the end of the forums, seeing as the software that it works off of is heavily database-driven.

Don't forget to leave your passes by the door on your way out.

Btw, Karl, it's actually called Boyce-Codd Normal Form (BCNF), as a bit of sneaky googling told me. ;)
