Well, probably not. but he was there and it's a nice, tidy explanation for the disappearance of the text.

Unless it's my browser playing silly, most of the text seems to have disappeared from the chat.

Same goes for Predabot, and probably Senior's Covenant by the looks of things.

I, on the other hand, seem to be unaffected by this second malfunction*.

*The first being that one of my lines disappeared, and all subsequent normal black text turned to bold purple.

Similar happened yesterday at TFA. Text went bold black, but the text itself didn't disappear.

I seem to recall similar happening (text disappearing, the bolding of it is new) before...

I know this will register in the log, though!
Yup. Now I just need to work out what's causing an unclosed tag.

Will have a think in the morning. In the meantime, if anyone spots anything in the following:

$string=$the_time." <a href=\"x.php?x=".$num."\"><b class=\"e".$index."\">".$name."</b></a>";
if (strpos(" ".$stickinto,"/me ")==1) { $stickinto=substr($stickinto,3,999); $me=TRUE; $msg=""; }
if ($me==FALSE) { $string=$string." &bull; "; } else { $stickinto="<span class=\"e".$index." b\">".$stickinto."</span>"; $string=$string." "; }
$string=$string.$stickinto;
$string="<div>".$string."</div>\n";

edit:

Break still in the source I grabbed whilst it was 'offline'...

<div>18:02:51 <a href="x.php?x=1743"><b class="e3">Predabot</b></a> &bull; Everything is relative! :D </div>
<div>18:03:22 <a href="x.php?x=313"><b class="e6">saysadie</b></a> <span Einstein, or something? </div>
<div>18:03:37 <a href="x.php?x=1743"><b class="e3">Predabot</b></a> &bull; DAAANGER MOOUUSE! </div>

It's possible the server simply hiccupped in the middle of a file write. Would this hiccup and the one at TFA have happened at about the same time?

It's weird. It seems I'm the only one who didn't suffer the white out. How odd.

Oh, and Denyer, when it went bold'n'purple, the bit of text that went walkies was my 17:51:51 line, where:
17:51:30 Predabot • *bad. NO! Bvad I say!
17:51:44 saysadie • Yeah... and I was "singing an actual song, too... :p
17:51:51 Rebis • I leave the room for 2 minutes, and return to a degenerated mess!
17:51:52 saysadie • "singing", even.

as far as I can recall, anyway.

Righty-o. I can feel an entire rewrite of main.php coming on, with more file locking and any quick 'n' dirty speed-ups I can think of...

I'm still planning on rewriting some bits, but have there been any problems since? TFA is running exactly the same code, and usually has a couple of people sitting in it most of the time... no reported problems since the hiccups at both sites a while back.
