What does this mean?

"Beginning in March “Combiner Wars” will crisscross between the main Transformers comic series (formerly subtitled Robots In Disguise) and the upcoming Transformers: Windblade ongoing series. The crossover will be written by Barber along with Mairghread Scott, and illustrated by Sarah Stone and Livio Ramondelli."

Main TF series? Formerly subtitled?

Hmmm.
"But the Costa story featuring Starscream? Fantastic! This guy is "The One", I just know it, just from these few pages. "--Yaya, who is never wrong.

I guess that MTMTE is getting retitled? If they cancel it I will never ever buy another IDW book as long as I live.

"Main TF ongoing series" my ass.

Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

Combiner Wars? Really? Of all the hackneyed plots to expound upon, they choose gestalts?

Here we were thinking that Dark Cybertron was the nadir...

That being said, nothing better happen to MTMTE. Maybe it's just a crossover between RiD and Windblade and MTMTE is gonna do its own thing? I'm hoping they understood the bad press MTMTE got for being forcibly crossed over with RiD and want to avoid it.

MTMTE is unaffected.

It's just the new Generations combiner teams being forced into the RID and Windblade ongoings (yes there is going to be a Windblade ongoing)

Anybody want to summarize what happened in the final issue of the Windblade series? Who was trying to kill her? Did she fall in love with Starscream yet?

i would but that wouild involve having managed to pay attention while reading it.

I think Chromia did it. But Windblade is ok with it. Or something. And transform and fly over the city to wrap up.

Anyway - a) meh and b) yay MTMTE isn't getting dragged into another sh**y cross over and c) lets not forget the toys look ace

God dammit.

Shane writing Drift again. Oh yay. Let's take everything good Roberts did with the character and flush it down the toilet.

They really are trying their best to ape the X-Men model aren't they?

Another solo ongoing! Another crossover! Another character-centric mini by the character's creator that'll obviously ignore the evolution beyond the core concept achieved by competent writers!

I mean why not go the whole hog and have Megatron join up with the good... ah.

"Well the thing is i bumped into Chris Ryall and he said to me what would you do with Drift?"

"And i said, well he has sorta kinda got away from what makes him super awesome which is swords and a diluted western perception of Japan. Which is not to say James Roberts has screwed him up but is to say that"

"So lets do a story where he has a sword. In Tokyo"

"and it glows. The sword. And Tokyo. Because neon."

"And Chris Ryall sang that song from the Lego movie at me in a non sarcastic way. and we signed a contract. Everyone will love it especially if they like swords. And Japan."

Barf.

To be honest, I don't think Robert's Drift is really "all that" either, as a character. Better by a mile, for sure, but one of the characters I care least about on the Lost Light.

Would much have preferred, say, a Rung mini or Cyclonus/Tailgate mini (Hmmm... that would kick major, major ass, sort of a galactic Batman/Robin team).

They're a little bit gay for each other?

[ignores whole discussion of Transformers gender thing, nope, nope, willfully ignorant]

Yeah, I guess the Batman and Robin analogy doesn't fit but I couldn't come up with a comparable duo. C3PO AND R2D2? No. Hmmm.

Which means it would be even more awesomer because it's not been done.

Well how else are you going to knock those combiners down now?

It means Ryall is back on the smack.

Somebody set up one of those e-petition things:

"Dear Shane McCarthy,

you ****.

We, the undersigned, are going to have you stabbed"

I'm going to frame this as the Spirit of Transfans.

"It's all wank. Someone ought to care about it more."
