Star Wars the Force Awakens - Trailer

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Star Wars the Force Awakens - Trailer

Post by Impactor returns 2.0 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 7:33 pm

So after watching it a few times (7 I think) im excited. look I know its silly and I shouldn't do this to myself but Ive waited since I was boy to follow Luke and co again.

This is going to sound incredibly over dramatic. but stick with me im going to share something with you.

WHen return of the Jedi came out i had to wait to watch it on video. back then it took something like a year to come to video, and even then the local video library only had 1 copy so there was a waiting list to watch the film.

I waited and waited and waited. it was painful. Star wars was everything to me, before VHS we used to record it on to a tape deck every xmass off the BBC. you would have to stay quiet in the room whilst it played. at night i would listen to SW over and over as a I fell asleep. only to be rudely awoken by the knocking sound the tape player made when you had to physically turn the tape over.

SW is ingrained into me, possibly only followed by Transformers and Warhammer 40K (which i still avidly follow today) in terms of popularity in my head.

Anyway, back to Jedi, when I watched luke cremate Vader it was literally like my childhood ended, I cant quite explain the feeling but id waited so long for something that when it came, I didnt really want it.

The prequels were released and yet....it wasn't SW, not my SW, sure it was in the SW universe but it wasn't right, to shiny, to political, with characters i didnt know about, or care for....

This trailer has made me giddy with excitement, I truly, honestly, thought it would never happen, that I would never see Luke again... so yes, im sucked in, like some old fool. Please JJ, dont [composite word including 'f*ck'] it up I and many others like me are relying on you.

Im on the hype train! :headbang:

Oh, I feel ya.

Thinking of seeing Luke on the big screen again sends chills up my spine every time I think about it.

Mark Hamill is the heart and soul of this, I think. There's a lot of concern about if these movies will live up to the high expectations or flounder like the prequels. I understand that concern. But dude, Mark Hamill's in it. And he ain't gonna steer this thing wrong. Sure, Abraams is director. But still feel like Mark will do us right. He knows what Star Wars is all about. Our Star Wars, from back in the day.

Excited. Oh, and yeah, with Han Solo back again helming the Falcon with Chewie, how can it go wrong?

Used to watch episode IV, V, or VI every day after school, drove my parents nuts. So I'm on that hype train right with you Impy.

Agree with everything you said.

Great post Imps.

Loved how my news feed was nothing but SW yesterday.

That pause.

The Dark side...

And the light...

wait for it...

wait for it...

wait for it...

wait for it...

The Falcon bit...

JOHNMOTHERF*CKINGWILLIAMS DADADA DADADA DADADA....

yep, goose bumps, I almost cried.
I'm such a soft **** now, I know the moment I see Luke I'm going to shed a tear.

There's something about the look that I think JJ might have nailed. Look at the X wing scene, the Falcon. There's something in it, a sort of epic film grade he might get have it. It's not lens flare star trek it's space grandeur....

Oh god a whole year?

That scene with the X-Wings won me over, but the Millennium Falcon removed all doubt.

I am excited.

I actually thought, even for a teaser, it was kinda lame.
